SELF-SERVICE technology has been installed at one of Sedgemoor’s busiest libraries.

The facility will be available at Burnham Library when it reopens on Monday, October 29 at 9.30am.

Somerset County Council libraries boss David Hall said: “I hope lots of existing library users come along to this reopening, and maybe some new faces as well.

“Self-service reduces queues at peak times and lets staff to focus on customer enquiries.

“The kiosks are simple to operate, though users will need to remember their membership card and PIN.”

Kate Turner, of the Somerset Libraries Service, said: “The public will notice some major changes.

“We’ve taken the opportunity to refurbish the library as well as installing the self-service technology.”

Among various events being held during the opening week will be a free craft and poetry activity entitled ‘Imagine a Martian’ for children on Friday, November 2, from 11am to 12.15pm.

Self-service technology is due to be installed at Bridgwater Library by spring 2013.
