BRIDGWATER’S most successful club, Gremlins, will be going for another piece of Carnival history tonight.

If they claim first place in the features class, it will be their tenth straight success on home turf.

Last year, the Gremlins stole the show with Revolution – a French Revolution themed cart which powered through the streets of Bridgwater, accompanied by the rousing music of T Rex.

This year, the Gremlins are going even further back in time to a prehistoric era, with Xtinct.

For twitter followers, Gremlins are using the hashtag #walkthedinosaur, which gives a little clue as to what to expect.

Club chairman Andrew McLean told the Mercury: “There’s no doubt 2013 is a very big year for us.

“Our theme is an idea that’s been floating around for a while, and it’s one we felt as a club we could adapt in our own special way.

“We try and be as creative and inventive as we can.

“We want to keep exciting ourselves. We know we’ve got a big audience and we love to entertain.”

British Flag will be looking to follow up their triumph in the Carnival Concerts, where their performance of ‘The Town of Titipu’ earned the prestigious White Hart Cup, for the gang and feature receiving the highest number of points throughout the concerts fortnight.

The Flag’s entry for the road is called Kabuki.

Of Bridgwater’s other major clubs, Renegades are the first crowds will see.

Their entry, Voodika, will offer a twist on an African tribal theme.

Then it’s Marketeers, whose entry, called Anarchy, promises plenty of punk action.

Cavaliers’ cart is called Once Upon A Time – expect some fairytale magic.

Lime Kiln’s Gold Rush cart should be a favourite with fans of the Wild West.

Ghosts and ghouls will be everywhere on Crusaders’ Oh What A Night cart.

YMCA are heading into outer space – they say their entry, Uprising, will feature a “Multifunctional Intergalactic Vehicle”!

Wills’ entry, #Priscilla, promises “a road trip across Australia”.

Then it’s the turn of the Griffens, whose entry, Steampunk, promises a take on the theme of... well... steampunk.

Anybody afraid of creepy-crawlies may wish to run for cover when Ramblers’s Swarm Force hits the streets.

Things may be a little more serene on board Centurion’s House of Tudor.

Gremlins and British Flag will then do their stuff, before Vagabonds hit the road with School of Rock.

The Vagabonds will be spurred on by the memory of club stalwart Ted Putt, a skilled carpenter and cart builder who died earlier this year.
