A BRIDGWATER mum has this week issued a warning to people to beware of dangerous dogs, after she and her two young children were attacked by two rottweilers.

Louise Symes had collected Lewis, five, and Keira, four, from school and was walking home along Penlea Avenue when the dogs struck at about 4pm on Thursday.

She told the Mercury: "They came at us, growling, and circled around us. The only thing I could think of was the get my kids behind me.

"They bit a chunk out of my coat, and pulled Lewis' shoe off, and I was getting really frightened, but luckily a car drove past, which startled them a bit, and we managed to get away."

Shocked Louise reported the incident because she says the dogs appeared to be loose, and she was concerned they could strike again - with someone being badly hurt.

Sedgemoor District Council's dog warden Tina Kick told the Mercury she had investigated the report, but said she doesn't believe there is any cause for alarm.

She said: "As soon as the report was received, I checked all around the estate, but no-one else had seen the dogs. It could be that they had got temporarily loose from a garden."
