Bridgwater Mercury: Heavy rain causes floods on Somerset roads

HEAVY rain has caused flooding to a number of roads in the county this afternoon (October 11).

Up to 25mm has fallen in six hours and roads were starting to resemble rivers around Stoke St Gregory at 2pm.

The upper catchment area of the River Tone, which stretches from Waterrow to Bishops Hull, was placed on a flood warning by the Environment Agency.

Further sharp showers can be expected for next few hours.
