CHILDREN at a Bridgwater primary school got a real lift - when Team GB Olympic weightlifting star Michaela Breeze dropped by.

Michaela, 33, competed at the Athens and Beijing Olympics and won gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 2006.

She retired after winning silver at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010.

She visited St Mary's Primary School as part of the Be The Best You Can Be! programme, which aims to ensure the Olympic legacy lives on in schools.

She spoke to children about how she achieved her success and told them how they can achieve their goals.

Mary-Jane Collington, head teacher, said: “I was determined that our school would be one of the schools to undertake the Be The Best You Can Be! programme. “The inspiration offered by high achievers including Olympians and Paralympians who strive to achieve their dreams is incredibly powerful and can really reach out and engage our young people.”
