PEOPLE using Apple's new mapping software were confused to find Bridgwater had miraculously sprouted an 'e'.

Searching on the Apple's iOS 6 map, the town can be found spelt 'Bridgewater' - just one of a few geographical errors in the software which include buildings in roundabouts, missing train stations, and businesses listed which no longer exist.

The tech giant has since responded to criticism of its new mapping service by reassuring customers improvements are to come.

In a statement it said: “Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service.

“We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it.

“Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.”
