VILLAGERS are being asked if they want their streetlights turned off in the middle of the night.
Burrowbridge Parish Council has express interest in taking part in a trial scheme which will see lights turned off between midnight and 5.30am to reduce energy consumption and light pollution.
Somerset County Council Cabinet Member Harvey Siggs said: āIām sure people in Somerset will welcome the choice of how their streets are lit and the opportunity to contribute to cash savings and darker skies.ā
The three year trial involves 14 parishes in the first phase. Seven further phases will include parishes that express an interest.
