MORE than 3,500 students visited Bridgwater College’s Freshers’ Fair – which organisers said was the best yet.
The fair, organised by the college’s student union, provided free T-shirts, badges, condoms, offers, food and NUS cards to the new first-year students.
Georgia Hodges, students’ union president, told the Mercury: “We’ve been working really hard to organise it since May and this one has been the biggest ever.
“We’ve had a number of different stands such as one from Matalan offering jobs, details about college teams, reps from The Palace nightclub and clubs and societies.
“Students from all around came to the college and we gave welcome speeches and showed them around.”
Another fair was held the following day at the Cannington campus with a hog roast, where students who would be studying there were given a tour of the facilities.
The students’ union is now planning a freshers’ foam party which will take place within the first few weeks of term.
