THE first glimpses of what Bridgwater’s new hospital could look like have been revealed this week, and the Mercury wants to know what you think.

Site preparation work is continuing at the hospital site off Bower Lane, ahead of a £33million building project.

Somerset Primary Care Trust has shown the Mercury artist impressions revealing the proposed hospital entrance, and the view from the M5.

The hospital will have separate sections for adult physiotherapy, radiology, a minor treatment unit, adult rehabilitation, a day surgery, an out-patient unit and smaller areas devoted to dental services, social services and a pharmacy.

It will have 30 inpatient beds and an outpatient clinic which is expected to see more than 62,000 patients each year, more than twice the number currently seen at Bridgwater Hospital.

The hospital could welcome its first patients in the autumn of 2014.
