A CHILDREN’S author from Bridgwater has published an Olympic-themed book.

Steve Apelt, of Sandpiper Road, has written Lollipop Goes to the Olympics alongside illustrator Katy Dynes.

The book, aimed at under-sixes, centres around a rabbit called Lollipop and how she helps a variety of furry creatures on her way to the Woodland Olympics.

Steve, 49, said: “In the past I’ve organised events for children, from children’s shows to charity events.

“I think the Olympics are one of the biggest things to see in our lifetime.

“It’s about the idea of the Olympics but also making friends and helping people. I hope it will help children to understand what the games are about.”

At this age range, about 5-ish, I was reading my older brother"s Beano comics. They were somewhat intellectually challenging. In fact, they still are.
