IF you’re planning some DIY or a clear-out over the Jubilee weekend, then make sure you recycle your waste!

Viridor, the firm that operates the county’s recycling centres including those in Highbridge and Bridgwater, is reminding residents its 18 sites will be on their normal schedule – with all of them open on Bank Holiday Monday until 7pm.

Area manager Brian Nicholls said: “Now the warm weather is here we’ve seen the volume of material brought to sites increase.

“We’re continuing to achieve high recycling rates across the county with an average of 75%, putting us in line with some of the UK’s top performers.

“The best time to visit on Bank Holiday Monday is early evening between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.”

A Somerset Waste Partnership spokesman said: “Over the Jubilee week Somerset’s recycling sites will be on their usual schedule with all 18 open on Saturday from 8am-4pm, Sunday from 8am-1pm and Monday from 8am-7pm.

“Recycling sites take 30 or more materials, from garden waste to broken electricals.”

As well as Saturday-Monday opening for all centres, local sites also opening on Tuesday, June 5, from 8am-4pm, include Middlezoy and Williton.
