A WARNING has been issued to pensioners in Sedgemoor following two distraction burglaries targeting elderly homeowners.

On Thursday, May 24, a man in his 70s in south Bridgwater was visited by a man who tricked his way into looking at his garden.

The man then stole cash from the victim's bedroom. He was white, aged 25-30, 5ft 6in with short, light-brown hair and a soft Irish accent.

He was wearing a light blue shirt, black trousers and black shoes with a pointed toe.

It is thought a second man, in his mid-20s, 5ft 7in with white shirt and baseball cap, may have been an accomplice in a bronze estate car.

Earlier, a man in his 80s in Berrow was targeted by a burglar pretending to be from the water board. He also stole cash from the home.

He was white, 5ft 8in and of medium build. He was clean shaven, had dark hair brushed forward and spoke with a Somerset accent.

Anyone with information on either incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
