Bridgwater College students and staff raised a record sum of just under £10,500 at their annual Raise and Give (RAG) Day.

The money will be spread between bibic, the Prince’s Trust and UNICEF’s Blue Mo’ campaign, a project which raises money to get basic facilities to children in Mozambique. Each charity received a cheque for £3,492.33.

Jack Lewis, from The Prince’s Trust, said: “With so many young people in the South-West struggling to find work, it’s vital we do all we can to give those who are furthest from the jobs market the chance to fulfil their potential.

“The money raised by Bridgwater College will make a huge difference to the lives of many young people in the region. We are incredibly grateful for their support.”

Gemma Baker, from bibic, added: “Thank you to all the students and everyone who did so much for our charity once again – local support means a lot to bibic!

“The money will be used to provide therapy programmes that will transform the lives of children with disabilities and learning difficulties.

“We rely on donations like this – so the hard work of the college will help change lives.”

Paul Cadmore, from UNICEF, said: “Bridgwater College and schools joined in supporting the Blue Mo event this year, which was fantastic, and our appeal has raised over £11,000 in total for UNICEF.”
