A WOMAN has raised £500 after running the half marathon in aid of a Bridgwater charity which helps local women.
Cindy Kitchker, 42, ran the Forest of Dean track in two hours and three minutes for A4W (Alive for Women), which is part of a Christian ministries project.
The money will be used to provide a computer for unemployed women to use to apply for job and develop their IT skills.
Cindy said: “Taking part in the trail half marathon in the Forest of Dean was amazing - there were thousands of people there and nearly 3,000 entered the race.
“I am sure my trainers had wings on that day because I felt lifted along, I even met a lady who had the same running pace as me and we ran it together and encouraged one another, especially up the hills. When I ran through the finish line I cried, not out of sadness, but out of joy in knowing that I had just made a difference for A4W to reach out and help others.”
