THE Alzheimer’s Society says it is “shocking” that many people in the South-West think it is ok to poke fun at dementia sufferers.
A new poll found that more people (22%) have heard jokes about dementia than other conditions such as autism and cancer (both 2%).
The poll found 33% of people think it is ok to say someone with dementia is “having a senior moment”, while 14% said it was acceptable to describe them as having “lost their marbles.”
