AS part of the build up to Stogursey’s Heritage Festival, Nether Stowey Primary School welcomed members of the Bridgwater Garrison who told pupils about the English Civil War and life in the 17th Century.
The Garrison members spent the day in role as Parliamentary and Royalist soldiers, explaining what life was like as a soldier and a villager at the time of the Civil War.
They brought with them many artefacts from the Civil War, which the children loved handling.
Richard Adams, head teacher, said: “It was a fantastic “hands–on” day for the children here at school, which fitted in brilliantly with our creative curriculum theme.
“All our children learned a lot from the Garrison’s visit.”
Many schoolchildren and their families went on to enjoy the Sealed Knot “Muster” at Stogursey the following weekend.
