THE family of a young Bridgwater woman who was beaten up feel justice has not been served after her alleged attacker was judged unfit to stand trial.

Amber Glover, aged 20, says she suffered a broken nose and swollen eye following an incident outside the bus station in Eastover on the evening of January 18.

Her father David Glover said she had been seeing off friends when it happened, and since then she has sunk into depression and is too frightened to leave the house alone.

Reece Green, aged 19, from Wallace Scott Road in Weston, was later charged with assault and appeared before magistrates. However, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case following expert medical advice confirming he was unfit to stand trial for mental health reasons.

Mr Glover told the Mercury he believes justice has not been served.

He said: “My daughter was already depressed before the attack and all this has made her even worse - she never goes out now.

“We have got no closure while he gets away scot free and that's not on. I'm devastated.”

Mr Glover says he will now be making an official complaint to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A CPS spokesman said: “We have written to the complainant informing them of our decision and we will gladly provide them with a more detailed explanation if they wish to get in touch with us.”
