Canal tidy-up this Saturday

VOLUNTEERS are sought to help a tidy-up operation along the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal this Saturday.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 9am outside the Admirals Landing pub at Bridgwater Docks, and should wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear. Safety equipment will be provided.

The walk is part of Towpath Tidy, a British Waterways’ initiative to look after the nation’s waterways, running from March 1-14.

Bridgwater MP Ian Liddell-Grainger said: “Towpath Tidy is a great way for local people to get involved and help look after the historic Bridgwater and Taunton Canal in their area.

“The canal is a great resource, a piece of working heritage and a fantastic place to spot wildlife.

“I’ll be joining forces with British Waterways people to help keep the canal clean and tidy on Saturday and look forward to meeting other local volunteers.”

Why is everyone doing the job the council tax pay's for ? first Bower now the canal where we live it would be nice to see a street claener more than once a year !! I cant wait for twinkles comments. Twinkles sounds just like a fairy perhaps you can wave your magic wand and get some decent shops in the town.

And as if by magic I do have an opinion. I love the canal and waterways in this part of the world, and I thinks as residents of the area each and every one of us should feel in some way responsible for the upkeep of the area. I helped in the Bower clean up when I lived there, and I've helped the Rugby Club with their annual cleanup too.
If more people volunteered to do a little and give back to the community, this place would be a nice place to live in. Tell me JOJO, what have YOU done for the community lately?

Perhaps if people took their rubbish home there wouldn't be the need for a clean-up.
And if the Council spent a bit of OUR taxes on a few bins it might help.

Perhaps Mr L-G will treat everyone to some hard earned lunch and of course claim it back on his expenses. Another good photo opportunity to show him as a caring person of Bridgwater before the next election.

ok, I'll rise to the bait. Born at Mary Stanley. School - Chilton Trinity. College - Bridgwater College. Lived here all my life except while at university. And ENJOY the place for what it is - a beautiful part of the country. A country I'm proud to have seen a lot of.
FOOLS like you really need to see what a slum is, maybe you should live in a place with highrise flats everywhere and boarded up houses for miles on end. There are many, MANY worse off places than Bridgwater, and as you don't appreciate the place, why don't YOU DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND GO TO ONE OF THEM?

Twinkles is like a dog with a bone wont let go so why dont we all sit back and let twinkle transform BRIDGWATER after all twinkles could not do any worse than the council they obviously support. Seems to me twinkles thinks they are our town saviour how disallusioned can a person be. Wake up to reality twinkles you get off your b_____de and transform our town ( joke ) Just a little more info on me I had a good grammer school education when education meant education. No not in Bridgwater.

twinkles im so pleased that I have found a fellow MUPPET it takes one to know one. Perhaps that is why I am so good at working with adult special needs I presume you think they are muppets as well. How do you know I dont work around you in the council ? You must have spent a lot of time with muppets to know what they are like. Remind me which one are you from THE MUPPET show ? Why dont you read GGGG from Bridgwater's comments and take a leaf out of their book.Perhaps insulting other people gives you a kick . Sounds like council .

Bwaaaahahahahahahaaa
a! You two crack me up! You know nothing about me at all do you?!
You're just fighting POSITIVE COMMENTS about the town you live in. And because someone doesn't share the same views as you, you bully them until they go quiet. Well, not this one I'm afraid. I'll wave you both off when you leave...

Twinkles. You are the one that started the mud slinging. You want to have your say but dont anyone else dare make any comment YOU dont like.Im waving you goodbye I get more sense out of my adult special needs students. They dont have a nasty thought in their minds unlike you. Your keeping very quiet about your self which makes me think I know who you are and where you work The word council springs to mind. Bye ! Bye ! Crawl off to bed with your cocoa.

Far from it honey, you're the one who made it personal. And to bring adults with special needs in as an insult to me is very degrading of them. I wonder if your employers know your attitude towards your work.
I don't work for the council, and to be honest, even if I did, it wouldn't make any difference. Lots of people do, and they have to! What would you rather - nobody work there?
I support the TOWN. Not the council. I too am unimpressed about issues like the Splash fiasco, but frankly - and here's the point - I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO DO A BETTER JOB MYSELF. So I do what I can to make this place a nicer one to be in. If a few more people got off their behinds and did the same it wouldn't take long to get results. But then there are people with large mouths and loud voices who moan, complain and dig at anyone they can. It's easy to heckle from the back, why don't you get to the front and do a better job if you're so clever?

My special needs are much more intelligent than you. They have manners and never are rude to anyone unlike you TWINKLES. Oh yes if you want it you can have my employers name and number then when you make a fool of yourself again perhaps they will show you the 3 recomendations I have received for my good work. Find your self a decent job then you can got off your behind and start shouting from the front line. I allways speak at the front im not afraid to take criticism unlike you.I have just chaired a meeting tonight about about the new infrastructure of Bridgwater WHERE were YOU ??? shouting at the back or drinking your cocoa ? No on your computer being insulting I should have known. You dont even know when these meetings take place . Dont know a lot do you.
To anyone else who is enjoying twinkles fantasies this is the end .When he insults the GOOD job I do for people less fortunate than me.

Come on then, lets have your employer's name and number then. Lets see if you've got the balls to stand up and defend what you've been saying here. Fact is, you've been derogatory towards 'your' special needs patients. You're a joke. I'm not insulting the job you do, you're doing it to yourself.

Sorry where did you say you were when this important meeting was taking place tonight ? You dont have confidentialality in your job then other wise you would know better than to ask me for my employers name and number. get on with your sad little life . My life is very satisfactory and happy in the job I do and my employer is happy with the results I achieve.Crawl away somewher give us all a chance to make OUR comments.

Thought not - all mouth and no trousers.... You see I'm not trying to personally attack you, I'm trying to show you that you do live in a nice town, with nice people and good facilities. The fact that you're doing something positive is good. Why can you not see that, and why do you feel the need to attack all the time?
