FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze inside an animal feeding machine at Mole Valley Farmers in Bridgwater yesterday evening.
Crews received reports of smoke coming from Marsh Lane at about 5.40pm.
One fire engine was initially sent to the scene and firefighters found smoke billowing from a vent at the store.
It was later established that a grain hopper was on fire and reinforcements were called out with two further fire engines and a crew from Taunton arriving.
Staff on site opened the hopper to remove around two tonnes of grain and crews were on standby with two hose reel jets.
Fire crews said the cause of the fire was believed to be overheated machinery, which suffered heat damage and 1.5 tonnes of animal feed was removed from the machinery.
