River Parrett goose goes missing

ONE half of one of Bridgwater’s most loved couples has gone missing.

Two geese who live by the River Parrett have been popular with passers-by for years – but this week one disappeared.

Lisa Varcoe, landlady of the River Parrett Inn, told the Mercury: “The geese are much loved in the town.

“They live opposite the pub and I’ve been inundated with calls from people wanting to know where the other goose has gone “Unfortunately, it is missing, presumed dead.

“The remaining goose is honking all the time after its partner.

“I’m going to look after it now. I’ve spoken to the RSPCA and Secret World and they have told me it’s better to leave it where it knows.”
