Bridgwater groups raise charity cash

TWO groups of Bridgwater fundraisers have collected thousands of pounds to help breast cancer sufferers.

The River Parrett Inn, on Salmon Parade, held a 24-hour darts marathon for the Breast Cancer Care Fund at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Volunteers went up to the oche and raised around £2,000 for the good cause.

Staff at Asda in Bridgwater also got in on the act, collecting money for the store's Tickled Pink campaign, which helps people fighting the disease.

They held a number of fun events and raised £1,000.

Emma Brown, events co-ordinator at Asda, told the Mercury: “We reached our target of £1,000 and even got our store manager, Clare Jordan, to sit in a bathtub filled with pink milkshake.”
