THE carnival fun will kick off with a bang on Thursday night with a firework display at St Matthew’s Field.

The curtain-raising event, which has been sponsored by Bridgwater Town Council for the fourth year running, will start promptly at 7pm.

Bridgwater town councillor Gill Slocombe said: “The carnival celebrations show Bridgwater at its very best, and the town council is happy to sponsor the fireworks display once again.

“Carnival attracts many people into the town and brings much business to the local economy, and it is an event we are all extremely proud of.”

Dave Stokes, Bridgwater Carnival publicity officer, added: “It is terrific news that Bridgwater Town Council is once again sponsoring this year’s fireworks display, and it will get the town in the mood for what is to come the following night.”

Car parking is available at St Matthew’s Field for £3 per car.

The proceeds of the night will go to the Bridgwater Carnival charity.
