YEAR 11 pupils at Robert Blake Science College in Bridgwater will benefit from a career mentoring programme once more after its success last year.
Thirty students will take part in the scheme that sees the IT organisation IBM offering them support and assistance on their current courses and future aspirations.
The scheme has been set up as part of Southwest One, the joint venture company set up between Somerset County Council, Taunton Deane Council and Avon and Somerset Police Authority to reduce running costs.
A celebration event was held in July to mark a year of career mentoring success and students were presented with a Southwest One memory stick and a certificate while the school received a donation of IT equipment from IBM.
Stephen Wardle, assistant head teacher at Robert Blake Science College, said: “Over the past year students have had regular contact and personal support from the business world to bring life to their studies.
“Our students benefited from the business and wider experiences of their mentors, as well as motivation to continue with their education after leaving school.
“Because of this, we are continuing the programme into a second year.”
