STAFF and pupils from East Bridgwater Community School have enjoyed a special day out after winning an anti-bullying award.
The peer mediators at the school received the Diana award for their anti-bullying work in 2009 and were invited to Northamptonshire's Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Spencer family, as part of the prize.
The group travelled to the picturesque house at the start of the summer holidays and enjoyed looking around the building.
They were given an extra surprise when Earl Spencer, the brother of the Princess of Wales, signed each Diana award invitation and a book for the school and agreed to become the school's patron.
Acting head teacher Sarah Watson said: “This is well deserved recognition for our peer mediators.
“Their work is a valuable part of the service we give all our students so that the school is a safe and happy environment where everyone learns.”
