Peter Donegan thrills Arts Centre audience

THE son of a 60s pop icon was greeted with a standing ovation from a sell-out crowd following his performance at the Bridgwater Arts Centre on April 12.

Peter Donegan, the son of Lonnie, provided a fantastic night of entertainment with his band for the compelled audience, weaving his way through his self-penned material and some of his father's classics, drawing an unprecedented wave of applause after each composition.

A delighted Roger Collett, organiser of the event, said: "It really was a marvellous night. Everyone really interacted with their performance, tapping their feet and singing their hearts out.

"The audience may have primarily consisted of those aged 50+ but this did not stop them dancing the night away."

Following the concert, Peter and his band told Roger they would love to play Bridgwater again.

Roger added: "I will try to sign them up to another gig in 2009, either here in Bridgwater or a local Somerset venue."

Money for Penrose School was also collected at the end of the evening, with the total still to be finalised.
