Tony gets ready to help his heroes

A BRIDGWATER policeman is ready to take on the gruelling London Marathon to support a cause close to his heart.

Community beat manager PC Tony Freeman - an ex-Royal Marine - is running for Help for Heroes, an organisation that supports servicemen and women injured in action.

Tony is looking for help from Bridgwater people to reach his £1,500 sponsorship target.

He said: "I have raised around £1,000 so far and really need to hit the £1,500 mark.

"I am prepared for the run. My 12 years of military experience has put me in good stead and I'm very much looking forward to it."

Tony described Help for Heroes, which is currently raising money for a new £5million rehabilitation centre in Leatherhead, Surrey, as a fantastic cause.

He said: "Many servicemen and women come back with horrific injuries and not enough is done to help them. This cause can help change that.

"I would like to thank Taunton Windows and Conservatories, Gerber Foods, Clearview Windows, Murphy the Painter and Technical Wood Machinery Sales in Bridgwater for their continued support during my marathon effort."
