POLICE are warning of con merchants phoning people in Avon and Somerset and claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs.
Anyone receiving one of the scam calls is warned not to hand over any personal details and to report the call.
A tweet from Avon and Somerset Police said: "We've had reports of people receiving a call with an automated message claiming to be from HMRC.
"Please be aware this is a SCAM.
"If you receive a call DO NOT give any personal information."
People should report such calls to Action Fraud on 0300-1232040 or via the link in the tweet below.
