SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has submitted plans to relocate its store from the current site in Eastover to the new Northgate development.

Northgate is subject to a large amount of development, with plans for a cinema, restaurants and fitness centre in the pipeline, and Northgate Primary School having been completed in 2017.

Aldi wants to move onto the former Bridgwater Enterprise Centre plot, saying the Eastover store is smaller than its modern stores and offers limited parking.

The plans indicate that the existing Aldi store would closed the day before the new store would open, allowing existing staff to migrate across seamlessly.

An Aldi spokesman said: "This will release the existing store for development opportunities, which is likely to further enhance the town centre as a whole."

The new store will cover approximately 1,680 square feet and will have 100 parking spaces.

It will be accessed via the new road shared with Northgate Primary School.

Typically only two HGV deliveries are received per day and these are directed towards the least busy times.
