BOXING clever students at Robert Blake Science College in Bridgwater were presented with a prestigious piece of sporting memorabilia this week.

Peter Evans, Hinkley B station director presented staff and pupils with a prestigious signed 2018 GB Boxing Commonwealth Games team shirt.

The shirt was presented to the Bridgwater school to commemorate the visit to the school by GB Boxing world class programme coach and EDF Energy employee, Lee Pullen, back in December 2017.

At the time, Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students were treated to a boxing demonstration by Lee and Peter, before being taught basic boxing principles and techniques.

“Lee is an absolutely fantastic coach, and it was great he joined us in Somerset for a day to share some of his experience and thoughts on the importance of fitness and wellbeing with the workforce for tomorrow”, said Peter, who used to work with Lee at Dungeness B power station in Kent.

“He wanted to thank the school in some way for making him feel so very welcome, and asked me to present the signed frame shirt to the staff and pupils on his behalf.”

“Let’s hope the memories the pupils have from the enjoyable day inspire them to be successful in whatever they choose to do.”

The GB Boxing team won 12 medals at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in April.
