NOBODY was hurt in a fire near Bridgwater College Academy, the school has confirmed.
Firefighters were called to the school's Sedgemoor site on Parkway at 1.30am today (July 19) following reports of a fire on a footpath next to the college.
One fire engine from Bridgwater went to the scene and when firefighters arrived they found 30 metres of hedgerow on fire.
Crews quickly put out the fire using hose reel jet but say the hedgerow and 30 metres of fencing behind it have been damaged.
A fence on a footpath, pictured, outside the college was damaged in the incident.
They believe the fire was started deliberately.
A spokesman for Bridgwater College Academy, said: "There was no one on site at the time.
"A long piece of hedgerow was set on fire and there was minor damage to the hedgerow and fencing.
"Nobody was hurt."
