Police were called to Great Western Terrace, in Yeovil, by the ambulance service at about 11.15pm, where they were dealing with a man found with stab wounds in the stairwell of a block of flats.

"Sadly the man died at the scene," said a police spokesman.

"We believe him to be a local man in his thirties although formal identification has not yet taken place.
