CLUBS and charities which work to help older people across Somerset could qualify for a cash windfall to support their projects.

Cosyfeet, the Somerset-based company that makes extra roomy footwear for swollen feet, has £750 up for grabs.

The money is available to registered charities or not-for-profit organisations working on community projects within Somerset that support and enrich older people’s lives.

Many of Cosyfeet’s customers are over 65, an age group often affected by loneliness and isolation. With this in mind, Cosyfeet supports an initiative for older people each year with the Cosyfeet Community Project Award.

“Our award is available to Somerset community projects that benefit older people and provide them with a sense of community,” says managing director Andrew Peirce.

“We support projects that offer practical and emotional support, keep older people active or give them the chance to socialise.”

The Sunflower Centre Day Hospice, based in Yeovil and Taunton, won the Community Project Award for Somerset last year. They money was used to help fund meals for day hospice patients, many of whom have highly specialised dietary needs.
