THIS is the moment Joseph Isaacs bought himself a McDonald's using a debit card he stole during a terrifying hammer attack on Jim Booth.

In images released by Avon and Somerset Police, Isaacs, 40, of no fixed abode, appears relaxed as he uses the self-service machine at the fast food restaurant.

Bridgwater Mercury:

These images were captured of Isaacs on November 23 last year - a day after he left Mr Booth, 96, for dead after subjecting him to a claw hammer attack.

A blood-splattered Mr Booth, who suffered significant head injuries and was unsure whether he lost consciousness, made his way to a neighbour’s house after the attack, where police were called before he was rushed to Musgrove Park Hospital.

But brave Jim Booth, 96, pulled through and was able to recount to detectives details of the horrific attack at his home. He described Isaacs as a “monster.”

Isaacs, who watched the court proceedings via videolink from Long Lartin Prison, in Worcestershire, denied attempted murder but has previously pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.

Bridgwater Mercury:

He has also admitted aggravated burglary and seven counts of fraud for using or trying to use a bank card stolen from Mr Booth.

A jury found Isaacs guilty of attempted murder after a trial at Taunton Crown Court.
