A 93-YEAR-OLD resident was one of the first to use the new bins store at Brooklands in Bridgwater.

Kenneth Scott was there as the store was unveiled after the Jones Building Group completed the facility on behalf of Homes in Sedgemoor.

Mr Scott was quick to praise the new store, which was provided following consultation with residents.

"I think it is marvellous - a really good idea," Mr Scott said.

In the past, residents living in the flats had to keep the rubbish in their homes.

Not only that, but when they did put them out, the bags were often ripped open by birds and other animals.

Homes in Sedgemoor neighbourhood officer Becki Davey said: “The mess was a big costly problem for residents and us.

"The bin store was the ideal solution and means residents now have somewhere secure to put their rubbish and they can recycle items as well in the bins provided.”
