PURITON'S Joe Finnis has been given the prestigious title of head boy at Cannington's Brymore Academy boarding school.

Joe, 15, was put through his paces during a thorough selection process which included a presentation to the whole school and a nerve-wracking interview with the senior leadership team.

Mark Thomas, headteacher at Brymore, said: "Joe, along with all the other applicants, displayed dignity and courage throughout the process and was designed to challenge all the boys at the highest level.

"It was a rigorous selection process and all the boys who went for this elite position did very well and should be proud of themselves.

"Joe possesses all the qualities we were looking for. It's an exciting time for him and the other students as he leads the senior student leadership team over the coming year."

Joe will be ably assisted in the role by deputy head boys, Oliver Spence and Cameron Kinch, and also the assistant head boys made up of Nick Payne, Ben Trim and Harrison Scott.
