THE district has seen a number of heroic acts in recent days, as Storm Emma brought fierce conditions.

From those valiantly clearing roads and pavements, to 4x4 owners ferrying hospital staff to work, good deeds have been in evidence all around us.

So why not enter some of those community-spirited folk for a Pride of Sedgemoor Award - and get them the recognition they deserve?

Editor of the Bridgwater Mercury and the Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News, Paul Jones, said: "It's been inspiring hearing the stories of heroism from across Sedgemoor this week; from those valiantly ferrying staff to hospitals, to the residents clearing a path for a pregnant woman expecting her special arrival.

"Our district is truly full of heroes going above and beyond each and every day.

"So don't hold back, give them the recognition they deserve, and submit your nominations now."

Nominations for the awards are open until April 27, 2018, with shortlisted nominees being invited to a special ceremony at the Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Club on Wednesday, May 16.
