Diesel and a large amount of sawdust has spilled across the road after the Nicholas Rowell Haulage lorry overturned at about 9am.
The A38 is partially blocked and emergency services are at the scene assisting with recovery and clean-up efforts.
Nick Uglow, fire watch manager for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The lorry driver is shaken but not seriously injured.
“The junction will be closed when they turn the vehicle back over which is expected to happen in the next half an hour.”
PC Matt Dalton said the lorry crashed due to a mechanical error after a spring broke on one of the vehicle’s rear axles.
Steven Salter, Bridgwater Mercury reporter at the scene, said: “It's the section of Huntworth Roundabout where the lorry is that will be closed, which means traffic from the North Petherton side will not be able to get onto the roundabout.”
