BRIDGWATER & Taunton College’s Level 3 football coaching students are training 300 schoolchildren every week as part of their course.
Sessions are taking place at Haygrove School, Chilton Trinity, Bridgwater College Academy and Robert Blake.
Each of the student coaches is working towards their FA Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications and the experience of coaching in schools gives them the opportunity to plan and deliver sessions as they would if they were working at a professional football academy.
Kyle Colclough, 17, said: “Working with children and helping them improve their football is so rewarding. It’s helped me grow into a more confident coach.”
Course leader Jamie Laird said: “Each student has made progress, not only in their coaching, but also in their soft skills such as confidence and communication.”
