A BRIDGWATER nursery goods business is celebrating after winning three awards.

Hippy Chick on Roberts Drive was crowned Best Distributor at the Progressive Pre-School Awards in November in recognition of its dynamism and creativity across the preschool industry.

The business, which was founded in 1999 by Bridgwater mum, Julia Minchin has gone from strength to strength and now has 23 brands in the line-up, supplies its portfolio to major high street outlets including Tesco, Boots, Mothercare and John Lewis, ships to over 20 countries worldwide and has its own website.

Jeremy Minchin, sales director at Hippy Chick said getting the award was ‘one of the best days in 18 years’ they have had in this business.

“To be told by your customers and all those that you are trying to give a great service to that you are the best at doing so is a very special feeling," Jeremy said.

“To be up against some great businesses and to win, felt absolutely brilliant.

“It is a true testament to the entire team at Hippychick.

“One of the best days in the 18 years we have been in this business.”

In the last year, the company has introduced two new products to their portfolio including the SpaceCot, a full-size travel cot that is not only the thinnest and lightest on the market, but also assembles in under 3 seconds and Buggi Lights, ingenious ladybird shaped LED lights which affix to the bars of a pushchair ensuring its visibility for 300 metres.

Both products took home Gold awards this months at the Mother & Baby Awards.

Julia Minchin, founder of Hippy Chick said she is ‘delighted’ to go out of 2017 on a high.

“With the country still gripped by the uncertainty resulting from Brexit, it is testament to the team, as well as our much-envied portfolio of superb quality products, that we are on track to have our best Christmas ever,” Julia said.

“The best distributor award gives a clear message to suppliers and trade customers that Hippychick is the company to do business with.

“The Mother & Baby Awards provide parents with that all-important reassurance they need when making a purchase for their child.”
