STUDENTS at Chilton Trinity won't mess with their new teacher who is a former rugby international.

Jake Caulfield, 24, has played rugby at junior level for England and Ireland and played professionally for Bath, Exeter Chiefs, Coventry as well as playing in New Zealand, but is now helping students achieve their potential at Chilton Trinity.

He grew up at school in Weston super Mare where he was Head Boy before achieving big things in the world of rugby including playing for Ireland.

He is now the Neptune House learning manager at the school and his ambition is to be head teacher.

He said: "I'm delighted to be a teacher at Chilton Trinity and am already loving my work here."

Before he came to Chilton he was Assistant head of year at his old school Priory Community School in Weston-Super-Mare and was also a PE teacher there.

Jake's professional career was cut short by injury but he still plays on weekends, and is also a rugby coach currently coaching Bristol Ladies.

He got into the role of teaching because when he was younger, he took an interest in what all his teachers were doing in school and it’s something he knew he would enjoy doing.

Rugby runs in the Caulfield family, with Jake's younger brother Josh is a professional player for Exeter Chiefs and recently represented England Under 21s in the Rugby World Cup.
