A BRIDGWATER couple are raffling off their Cyprus villa for £2 a ticket, hoping to raise £15,000 to help four-year-old Freddy Vallender's fight for life.

Joe and Fi Moretti are offering their holiday villa as the prize, and will be donating 10 per cent of everything raised to charity.

This includes £15,000 to Freddy’s Fight for Life, an appeal set up to raise money for Somerset toddler Freddy Vallender, who has suffered a life-threatening cardiac tumour since the age of 4 months, and needs surgery which he cannot get in the UK.

Another £12,500 will go to the RSPCA and £12,500 to the National Autistic Society.

Mr Moretti said: “We bought our villa in Cyprus in 2012 and have enjoyed every summer in it since, but the time has come for us to reluctantly let it go in order to raise funds for an exciting new murder-mystery based business venture.

"Instead of selling it the traditional way, we thought we would do something a bit different, and allow anyone the opportunity to own their own property in this beautiful country - while helping some worthy causes in the process.

Four-year-old Freddy Vallender is one of only seven children in the UK to suffer with this type of cardiac tumour, which causes dangerous heart arrhythmias, which make his heart beat in excess of 200 beats per minute and could lead to a sudden and fatal cardiac arrest.

Freddy has been fighting the condition since his first cardiac arrest at four-months-old. He has already had three heart surgeries and has a defibrillator planted in his stomach.

The only long term solution for Freddy is to have the fibroma removed by surgery, which is not available in the UK. His parents are hoping to raise £100,000 so that he can have an operation at the Boston Children’s Hospital.

Andy Vallender, Freddy’s father, who helped set up the appeal for Freddy with Just 4 Children, said: “This is the only opportunity we have to give Freddy a fighting chance at a full life. Joe and Fi’s generosity is incredible and we cannot thank them enough.”

The villa has three double bedrooms, three bath/shower rooms and a large, open plan ground floor with living area, dining area and kitchen.

Two of the bedrooms have balconies overlooking the private pool and there is plenty of patio space for seating and sunbeds, al fresco dining and barbecues.

Mr Moretti added: “We are offering the villa complete with all indoor and outdoor furniture and furnishings, all kitchen appliances and equipment, bedding, crockery and glassware - in fact everything the lucky winner could need to start using it straight away. The property is fully air conditioned and there is also a log burner for cosy winter visits.

“Kathikas is a friendly and picturesque village with excellent bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The villa is perfect for sun worshippers who want to get a regular holiday, but if they can’t visit all summer it can be rented out and we can guarantee them at least one booking per year from ourselves.”

To enter the prize draw, people can visit winacyprusvilla.co.uk and buy a ticket for £2. You will have to answer a question about the villa in order to be eligible for the prize. There is also a free to enter option via post, with full instructions on the website.

The competition is set to run until February 1, 2018 - unless the couple reach their target in advance of this date, in which case the draw will be moved forwards.
