A POLICE helicopter and police cars tracked a suspcious vehicle for 70 miles down the M5 through Somerset at the weekend.
A suspected stolen vehicle heading south near Junction 18 (Avonmouth) was reported to police at around 1.20pm on Sunday (August 20).
The driver was tracked through the county before finally being pulled over in Devon.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said it turned out that the vehicle had not actually been stolen.
He added: "We received a report of a stolen vehicle on the M5 around J18 southbound at about 1.20pm on Sunday.
"It was pulled over by colleagues in Devon and Cornwall Police at about 2.15pm on the A30.
"The occupant was arrested.
"He was issued with fixed penalty notice for speeding and failure to wear a seatbelt."
