A STOLEN car was found upside down in a canal in Bridgwater.
The car was stolen during a burglary of a property in Saltlands Avenue which happened overnight between 9pm on Saturday and 10am Sunday.
Police confirmed a music centre, cash and the car were stolen, but the car was found upside down in a canal off Marsh Lane in Huntworth just after 10.30am on Sunday.
Two fire appliances from Taunton, a special rescue team and rescue tender from Bridgwater and Taunton were sent to scene to retrieve the car from the canal.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The crews confirmed no person were trapped.
"The special rescue team entered the water and searched both the vehicle, assisted by a telescopic camera and the winch from the rescue tender, to stabilise and lift the vehicle. Once the vehicle and scene was made safe, duty of care was left with the police."
Police enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5217/190402.
