Bridgwater is among the luckiest towns in the South West when it comes to bingo, figures reveal.

The town’s Mecca Bingo paid out a whopping £653,000 to customers over the last 12 months.

The club on Penel Orlieu had an average of 182 customers celebrating a win every day.

In total, Mecca Bingo paid out £145m in prize money via the main stage at its 85 clubs, situated across the UK. That’s an average of £390,000 per day.

Mecca Bridgwater was not alone in its winning success, with fantastic sums being scooped by bingo players across the UK.

The top five luckiest regions, paying out the most prize money to customers in clubs include….

1. North East and Yorkshire: £27.6m

2. Scotland: £26.4m

3. North West: £26m

4. South East: £22.8m

5. Midlands and South West: £21m

6. M1 Corridor: £20.8m
