A BRIDGWATER mother has spoken of her horror after she was forced to blindfold her children to leave her flat to walk through a bloodied crime scene.

In the early hours of Sunday morning a man punched through a window, reportedly severing his artery, and gushing blood all over the stairwell and corridor of the middle floor of the West Street flats.

A young mum has posted on social media that she had to blindfold her three children, all under the age of five, to avoid them seeing the blood-covered scene.

Mark Taylor, who lives in a flat above, said: "The emergency services were here from 5am. I understand the young man, who does not live in the building, was taken to Musgrove with a serious arm injury.

"I have had enough of the problems here, it is more like the West Bank than West Street.

"It wasn't cleared up for at least a day and a half."

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to concerns for welfare of a man at a property in West Street, Bridgwater at about 9.30am on Sunday 30 July.

"The man was treated for arm injuries by ambulance and taken to hospital.

"There was some criminal damage caused at the property (a broken window) which is being investigated.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting 5217/173721."
