IN this week's column, Sedgemoor FM's breakfast show DJ Dave Englefield with some exciting news for the fundraising campaign Freddy's Fight.

I’ve had a fabulous response to my forthcoming 27 hour marathon breakfast show for four-year-old Freddy Vallender.

I am still putting together the list of special guests that will be joining me on the show on 1st and 2nd September and will let you know a little closer to the time.

One thing I do want to tell you about is a fabulous gesture that has been put forward by Glen Leon. Glen is frontman of the New Amen Corner and on August 24 they are bringing their Sixties show, along with guests Mike D’Abo (Manfred Mann) and Mike Pender (The Searchers), to the Brewhouse in Taunton.

All the guys are going to sign an electric guitar and raffle it on the evening with the proceeds going to Freddy’s Fight.

I was genuinely touched when Glen made the offer and just wanted to make a public thank you to him and the rest of the acts for their generosity.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Freddy and he really is a lovely lad and his parents are equally as fab. I know there are lots of people doing their bit for Freddy. Hopefully we can raise the amount of money required to give Freddy the operation he needs and deserves.

In other radio bits and bobs this Saturday sees our world tour of Sedgemoor arrive in the centre of town as part of the first Bridgwater Quayside Festival. We’ll be loitering near to Admiral Blake’s statue, so come down and say hello – it would be lovely to see you.

You can hear Dave Englefield on the breakfast show on 104.2 Sedgemoor FM weekdays from 6am-10am
