BRIDGWATER’S Engine Room has been given a big cash boost to help support an expansion to the current facilities.

The support has come in the form of a £6,000 donation from Homes in Sedgemoor contractors MD Group, who presented a cheque to the Engine Room this week.

Phil Shepherd, facilitator of Somerset Film at the Engine Room said: “We are delighted that Homes in Sedgemoor and MD are choosing to support Somerset Film in growing the Engine Room.

“We are committed to ensuring that film and media production facilities are accessible to everyone in the community, and it’s great to know that our commitment is shared by our colleagues in key local businesses”.

Somerset Film is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through the use of film and digital technology.

They have recently worked with O2i Design to create a three-storey extension to the Engine Room in Bridgwater, which has been declared the’ ‘Best Public Service Building’ winner for the South West Region at the Building Excellence Awards.

Further internal work is required to complete the project and the money from MD Group will go towards their new staircase.

Steve Devlin, group managing director of MD, said “The MD Group are proud to be associated with Homes in Sedgemoor and the Engine Room and we hope our contribution helps people in the community use their really worthwhile services. We look forward to watching this charity flourish in the future and wish them every success along their journey”.

Jen Barfoot, Homes in Sedgemoor managing director said: “I am delighted that our contractor MD has been able to support our partners at the Engine Room with this money towards their staircase. We work closely with the Engine Room to create video content for our website.”
