PARENTS in Bridgwater are being invited to bring their children to free pet workshops at Pets at Home this summer.

The workshops at Pets at Home at Bridgwater Retail Park, will run throughout the summer and aim to educate the next generation of pet owners on how to care for their pets responsibly.

Shelly Long, store manager at Pets at Home Bridgwater, says: “The free workshops are a chance for young pet lovers to learn about responsible pet ownership, whilst having lots of fun. Our expert colleagues will be able to offer tips and advice on pet care, whilst making the workshops both interactive and educational.”

At each session children will learn about the five welfare needs of a whole host of animals including guinea pigs, hamsters, degus and fish.

The five welfare needs for animals are shelter, food, water, good health, appropriate company and the right living environment.

Children will also get the chance to interact with some of the pets in store.

Pets at Home is also running an ‘Animal Alter Ego’ competition where children are invited to draw a picture or write a story that illustrates what they would look like if they were an animal, with prizes for the winning entries.

Entries need to be submitted online at petsathome.com/animalalterego by Monday July 3.
