IN this week's column Sedgemoor FM DJ Dave Englefield discusses our obsession with the weather.

Us Brits are famous the world over for talking about the weather. This last week or so we have certainly lived up to expectations haven’t we.

It wasn’t that long ago that we were moaning about the lack of sunshine for this time of year, and then when the sun came out we started moaning it was too hot!

We’re never satisfied whatever the weather does but I think there’s a little part of us that wouldn’t be happy if we weren’t moaning. Another weather related assumption is that it always rains here.

I know a lot of Americans in particular who were under that impression, although the most bizarre story I’ve come across was two guys from Texas who thought we lived on a diet of orange juice and fish paste sandwiches!

I suspect we also have assumptions about other nationalities that are about as accurate.

It’s been work experience week and we’ve not one, not two but three students with us all week learning all about radio and how it works both on and off air.

Hopefully Katie, Tash and Sonny all had an enjoyable time and have come away knowing a bit more about radio than they did before the week started.

Whether any of them will ever return to radio is unclear at this stage, but whichever path they go down we wish them every success.

We have a busy weekend coming up with the station team out and about all weekend. It starts on Friday up at Haygrove for their Glastongrove event, Saturday we’re off to Puriton School while Sunday sees us at the Docks Gala. If you’re around and about, come and say hi and grab a car sticker too.
