FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a house fire out at Mudgley near Wedmore.

Crews from Cheddar and Glastonbury were sent to reports of a shed fire but the blaze soon spread to the home and additional resources were called in from Street and Bridgwater.

The started shortly after midday today (Thursday, May 25) and crews were still on the scene at Mudgley Lane at 1.30pm.

A semi-detached two-storey building was fully involved in the fire, and crews were concerned as two large central heating oil tanks were involved.

Crews got to work with a safety jet, compressed airfoam jet, two hosereel jets and two breathing apparatus.

A request was made for further back up from Castle Cary and Taunton due to weather and heat at 1.30pm.
